Obituary for Katherine Inez Cowart

Katherine Inez Cowart, 92, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on February 28, 1925 in Jennings, Florida to the late Warren and Annie Culpepper Kent and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She was a retired nurse having worked with South Georgia Medical Center ER, the practice of Dr. Storey, as well as the private sector just to name a few. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. Mrs. Cowart was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Gross of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Diane Dayton of Santa Fe, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses, David and Angie Gross of Dallas, Texas, Brian Gross of Tampa, Florida, Mikki Hutchinson of Raleigh, North Carolina, Mendi and Tony Clay of Clermont, Florida, Missi and Nathan Richardson of Missouri City, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Louis Kent of Valdosta and Edward and June Kent of Lake Park; her sister, Anne Smith of Valdosta, and her best friend, Margaret Barber of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Cowart; a grandson, Scott Gross, and a brother, TJ Kent.
Services for Katherine Inez Cowart will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 in the chapel of the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the mausoleum. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at Carson McLane.
