William Charles Sirman, 88, a resident of Valdosta, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024. Born in Valdosta on November 18, 1935, he was the beloved son of the late John Hamilton Sirman and Flossie Belle Harris Sirman. William's journey began at Lake Park High School before embarking on a career that took him from Western Union in Albany to Burroughs Corporation in Pennsylvania. His dedication led him to serve the federal government as a civil servant, working with the FAA at the Air Traffic Control Center in Hampton, GA, in the mid-1970s until his well-deserved retirement after 30 years in 2000. He was a proud member of the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving son and daughter-in-law, William C. “Billy” and Tammy Sirman, of Jasper, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Bob Willis of Lake Park; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Cathy Fletcher of Southern Pines, NC, Jeff and Debbie Fletcher of Lake City, FL, and Andy and Jackie Fletcher of Dasher; a special niece, Jin and Chuck Connolly of Stockbridge, GA; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mona Davis Sirman, second wife, JoAnn Coppedge Fletcher Sirman, and several siblings.
A funeral service honoring Mr. Sirman's life will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Brother Mike Nelligan presiding. Interment will follow at Statenville Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 1-2 pm prior to the service.
