Wilma Florine Ellenberg Roberson

January 21, 1940 — October 7, 2023

Wilma Florine Ellenberg Roberson, 83, of Valdosta, died Saturday, October 7, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Center after declining health. She was surrounded by her family at this time.

Wilma was born January 21, 1940, in Brooks County to the late James P. and Ella Mae Hutchinson Ellenberg. After graduation from Valdosta High School, she worked as an office clerk at Pineview General Hospital.

On June 3, 1961, she married the late Leon Lavon “PETE” Roberson of Valdosta, and they were married for 62 years. During this marriage she worked every day as bookkeeper for her husband at Reid Electric Company until his retirement in 2004. Wilma was an active member of West End Presbyterian Church. She attended church every week until her husband’s health prevented it.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leon “Pete” Roberson, her sister, Gladys, and many other family connections.

She is survived by her sons, Leon L. Roberson, Jr.,(Cindy), Gregory Alan Roberson (Lisa) and Jason Scott Roberson (Shana) and her grandchildren, Sarah Roberson, Summer Ashlee Roberson, Logan Scott Roberson, Katie Clark, Matthew Pedron, and her great grandchild, Clay Chaney. She is also survived by the remaining Roberson family: Betty L. Anderson, Donald Roberson (Lawanna), Fred Roberson (Donna) and Cecil Roberson (Susan) and many nieces and nephews and a special friend and neighbor, Teresa Plymel.

Wilma was a very quiet, personal individual, but she had a heart full of love and was willing to help family and friends whenever she was able to do so. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Their health and welfare were her greatest concern in life. She will be greatly missed by loved ones and friends and neighbors.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Meals on Wheels at 1st Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1094, Valdosta, Ga 31603 or Hospice of South Georgia, 1163 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, Ga 31602.
