William C. “Billy” Crook, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Tift Regional Hospital. Born December 19, 1963, in Valdosta, Billy was the son of Anita Lunsford Crook and the late William E. “Bill” Crook. He was a 1983 graduate of Lowndes High School and played football for the Vikings as part of the team that won Lowndes High their first State Championship in 1980. After high school he went to Florida State University on a scholarship and was part of the football team under Coach Bobby Bowden. Billy loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He served on the Board of Directors for the Lake Octahatchee Fishing Club, where he resided, and enjoyed working on many improvement projects with the club. He helped organize the annual club fishing tournament to benefit the Bellville Fire Department and loved having family participate in the tournament with him each year. A devoted uncle, he imparted his love of the outdoors to his nieces and nephews and shared many hours with them enjoying all the outdoors has to offer. He was a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his mother, Anita Lunsford Crook of Valdosta; sisters, Carol Crook Wisenbaker (Mark) of Dasher, and Diane Crook Lewis (Marcus) of Adel; nieces, Wendy Wisenbaker –Garrett (Nathan) of Dasher, Joy Fondren Eldridge, Kendal Lewis Daughtrey, Haley Lewis and Fran Ramsey Wisenbaker, all of Valdosta; great nieces and nephews, Parker Jones, Ramsey, Will and Brant Wisenbaker, Elizabeth and Hannah Eldridge, and Cranford and Keaton Daughtrey. Billy was preceded in death his father, William E. “Bill” Crook, his sister, Cindy Crook Fondren, and a nephew, Tally M. Wisenbaker, III.
A private family service will be held for William C. “Billy” Crook. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Break Bread Together, PO Box 1094, Valdosta, Ga 31603.
