William (Bill) Allen

William (Bill) Allen, 78, of Statenville, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Langdale Hospice House following a short illness. He was born on September 13, 1934 in O'Steen, Florida to the late John and Eva Campbell Allen. He was a retired Master Chief BTCM from the United States Navy after 34 years of honorable service. During his time in the Navy, he served in the Korean Conflict and the war in Viet Nam. Bill loved to fish, laugh, pull a good practical joke and maintained his sense of humor to the very end. He was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Catherine Allen of Statenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Chad Pafford also of Statenville; son and daughter-in-law, John and Rose Allen of San Diego, California; a daughter, Brenda Felton of Tallahassee, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Gil Counts of St. Marys, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Tracy Allen of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren, Kaycee Pafford, Eli Pafford, Aubry Alexis Felton, Nikki Felton, Jonathon Counts and his wife Brittany, Robert Counts; two great-grandchildren, Connor Counts and Mila Felton; a sister, Mary Ann Chaney of Valdosta and a brother, Jack Allen of Jacksonville, Florida; brother-in-law, Warren Knight of Lake Park; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Ryan Allen and Jed Allen, a brother, Pete Allen, and three sisters, Mildred Ladrow, Ellen Knight and Bessie Allen.

Services for Bill Allen will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Rev. Farrell Harper and Pastor Chris Martin officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home.
