W.C. Ray, Jr., 79, of Valdosta died on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Valdosta on December 31, 1933 to the late W.C. Sr., and Dessie Jones Ray and has been a lifelong resident of Valdosta. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired truck driver for Tri-State Glass Company. Mr. Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman and he was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his life companion, Blanch Starling; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Joel Willis; step-children and their spouses, Debbie and George Pringle, Randall and Crystal Dawkins all of Valdosta, Tony and Perselphia Kussman of Naylor; a step-grandson, Phillip (PJ) Pringle of Valdosta and a step-granddaughter, Jasmine Dawkins also of Valdosta; eight nephews, David Tattersall, Edward Tattersall, Kevin Tattersall, and Joel Willis, Jr., Marlow Brown, Gregory Brown, Dean Brown and Terry Brown all of Valdosta`; his four legged companion, Buddy. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Brown and Janice Tattersall.

A visitation for Mr. Ray will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Per Mr. Ray's wishes he will be cremated following the visitation. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
