Beloved sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Walton Carpenter "Sister" Elliott passed away on May 10, 2025. Sister was born in Augusta, Georgia, on March 16, 1934, to Lucy Walton Jacks Carpenter and Lawrence Marvin Carpenter. She graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in Augusta, attended Brenau College, and then attended and graduated from the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. At the University of Georgia, she fell in love with William Gus Elliott of Cuthbert, Georgia.

After raising her four children, Sister returned to teaching at W. G. Nunn Elementary School. She also enjoyed many friends, including her Valdosta annual beach trip group, her August girls' trip friends, and those with whom she and Gus traveled often to the Georgia and North Carolina mountains.
