Walter (Junior) Snellgrove, Jr., 84, of Hahira, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015, at Fellowship Home.
He was born September 19, 1930 in Valdosta, a son of the late Walter M. and Ruby King Snellgrove. Mr. Snellgrove was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, and had retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Valdosta. He attended Southwestern Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX, and graduated from William Carey College, Hattiesburg, MS. He loved and served his Lord, enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and he greatly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, JoAnn Webb Snellgrove of Hahira; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Beth Snellgrove of Hahira, and Terry and Donna Snellgrove of Lake Park; five grandchildren, Tye and wife Annelise Snellgrove, Lauren Snellgrove, Sayward and husband Jeffery Thomas, Christopher and Kendall Snellgrove; four great-grandchildren, Tayten, Mackenzie and Laikyn Snellgrove, and Kenley Gibbs; two brothers, Joe and wife Juanita Snellgrove of Newnan, and Charlie and wife Alice Snellgrove of Bossier City, LA; two sisters, Elizabeth Davis of Valdosta, and Anne and husband Walton Lineberger of Valdosta; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elmyruth Coggins, Amy Bowers and Jeanette Evans.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Snellgrove will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home, Hahira, with Rev. Lewis Metts officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
