Virgil Raymond “Sonny” Miley, Jr., 87, of Hahira, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Hahira on March 3, 1939, Sonny was the son of the late Virgil Raymond Miley and Margaret Virginia Sutton Miley. Growing up in Hahira, he graduated from Hahira High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Aviation Electrician and continued his working career at SAFT as an Industrial Electrician. His favorite pastime was going to his home away from home at Suwannee, and spending time with family and fishing. He also loved to travel with the Happy Travelers and with his family in their camper.

Survivors are his wife, Linda Coppage Miley of Hahira; two daughters, Tracy Miley Bledsoe of Hahira, Vanessa (& Paul) Trondson of Hahira, his son, Michael (& Kathryn) Miley of Hahira; grandchildren, Michaela (& Nick) Kean, Krystin (& Chad) Daugherty, Sean (& Katie) Bledsoe, Chase (& McKenzie) Miley, Landon (& Samantha) Miley, Taylor (& Allen) Trondson, Ashley Trondson; great grandchildren, Gabriella Daugherty, Jonathan Bledsoe, Lilly Daugherty, Maddox Kean, Miley Daugherty, Olivia Kean, Brayden Kean, Natalie Lee, Kaleb Davis, and Emerson Bledsoe, Killian Miley and Virginia Miley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen (& John) Chitwood, Nancy Stalvey and Pam (& Ken) Akins all of Hahira; sisters-in-law, Vicki Miley and Glenda Hendrick.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Ruth Ann Edmondson, Willene Whitehead, a brother, Johnny Miley, son-in-law, Michael A. Bledsoe, brothers-in-law, Bobby Edmondson, Denver Whitehead & Freddie Stalvey, great grandson, Parker Zane Bledsoe, and great great grandson, Grady Nicholas Daugherty.

The funeral for Mr. Miley will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Pastor Chad Payne will officiate. Entombment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Hahira on Friday evening from 5 until 7 pm.
