Theresa Peterson Grubbs

Theresa Peterson Grubbs, 89, long time secretary at Lowndes High School, passed away at Fellowship

Home on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. The daughter of the late Carl and Margaret Amborn Peterson,

Theresa was born in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, on December 1, 1933. She married Billy W. Grubbs on

June 16, 1956, and they were married until Billy’s death in January 2013. Theresa was a member of St.

John The Evangelist Catholic Church. She was passionate about all things Lowndes, including the Georgia

Bridgemen and the Lowndes Vikings. In addition to working for the Lowndes County Schools for over 30

years, she was an active Band Booster, a Touchdown Club member, and volunteered wherever she was

needed, also a member and actively involved in Woodmen of the World. Theresa’s hobbies included her

love of cooking, active mother/wife and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors are her children, Cindy Rowland of Lake Park, Jennifer Burns of Atlanta, David Grubbs of

Valdosta, Jeff Grubbs of Warner Robins, her grandchildren, Scott Rowland of Lake Park, Alyson Burns of

Charleston, South Carolina, Emily Burns of Atlanta, Austin Grubbs, Emerald Gordon of Warner Robins;

great grandchildren, Wolfe Kershaw of Charleston, South Carolina, Hannah Rowland, Baileigh Rowland, ,

Everett Rowland all of Lake Park; great great grandchildren, Ruby Roberts and Clover Roberts; nephew,

Mark Peterson and family, niece, Annie Jackson and family. She was preceded in death by her parents,

her husband and a brother, Charles Peterson.

Mr. Creston Hulett will officiate at graveside services for Mrs. Grubbs at McLane Riverview Memorial

Gardens on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Services have been entrusted to the Carson McLane
