Teretha Warren Mixon

Mary Teretha Warren Forte Mixon, 91, died October 26, 2022, at the home of one of her nieces in Hahira. Born March 10, 1931, in Cecil, Georgia, Teretha was the daughter of the late Charles Dave Warren, Sr. and Mae Presley Warren. She was the last living child of her parents’ nine children. She was a member of Highlands Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL, and worked as a parapro at a day care. Teretha was a member of TOPS FL #347 while living in Jacksonville. She is survived by a son and daughter in law, Gary and Adriana Forte; step-children, James Mixon, Jr., Teresa Gorley, and Susan Miller; brothers-in-law, George Gentry and Everett Roark; her home health caregiver, Mrs. Margaret Mc Queen; step-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, James (Jim) William Mixon, Sr.; her son, Wallace Forte; her brothers, Samp, Chesley, and Charles Dave, Jr., and her sisters, Ella Mae Bellflowers, Louelle Barfield Carter, Hazel Dumas Harper, Jean Gentry, and Carolyn Smith Roark. Visitation will be at Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira on Friday, October 28 from 6 - 8 PM. Graveside service will be Monday, October 31 at 2 PM at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens in Jacksonville (850 St. John’s Bluff Road N) with the Reverend Frank Gupton officiating. The family wishes to thank the staff of Sparks Retirement Home, CuraCare and Bethany Hospice for the care and concern they gave Teretha and extended to the family.
