Sylvia Ann Parker, 84, a beloved resident of Hahira, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Fellowship Home Brookside. She was born on February 12, 1940, in Hahira to the late Charlie Gordon Tyler and Minnie Lee Weldon Tyler. Sylvia dedicated 30 years of her life as a secretary for the Lowndes County School System. Her passions included tending to flowers, showcasing her culinary skills in the kitchen, and cherishing Sunday gatherings with loved ones. She found joy in watching her children and grandchildren engage in sports and treasured her time spent with family, particularly her adored grandchildren. Sylvia was a member of Hahira First Baptist Church.
Left to honor Sylvia's memory are her devoted husband of 64 years, James Parker; her children, Ray Parker (Penny), Missy Davis, and Joey Parker (Sherry), all from Hahira; grandchildren: Ethan Parker, Jared Davis, Erin Parker-Nemetz (David), Morgan Barber (Blake), Hunter Parker, Tyler Parker, and Trevor Parker, along with great-grandchildren Saylor Rae Nemetz and soon-to-arrive Briar Barber. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Kathleen Culpepper, Dorothy Parker, and Mary Parker, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, brother D.C. Tyler, and sisters Verna Glass, Fron Johnson, and Virginia Lewis, as well as several brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Clem Washington, Stephanie Smith, Chrystal Butler, Regency Hospice, Hospice of South Georgia, Langdale Hospice, and Fellowship Home for all the love and care given to Mrs. Parker.
A funeral service celebrating Sylvia's life will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 3pm in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home, followed by burial at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
