S.W. "Frenchy" Depasture

Valdosta, GA

S.W. "Frenchy" Depasture, 84, a resident of Valdosta, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, March 30, 2024, surrounded by his family. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean Conflict. Frenchy was a skilled iron worker and welder. He was one of three underwater welders on the first nuclear submarine. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish several successful companies, which took him on assignments all across the globe. In 2007, he married Barbara Southall, and together they started Barnside Nursery. Frenchy was also a respected 32nd Degree Mason.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Southall Depasture of Valdosta, his cherished children Andrea, Tiffany, Megan, and Wade, as well as a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special family members Lolo, Diana, Violeta, and Heidy Contreras held a dear place in his heart. Frenchy was preceded in death by his parents and his son Doug.

A funeral service, featuring masonic rites, will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, officiated by Reverend Frank Gupton. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frenchy may be made to Hospice of South Georgia at 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA, 31602. Online condolences can be shared at www.mclanecares.com.
