Sue McNeal, 87, of Valdosta, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Langdale Hospice House. Born in Calhoun County, Alabama, on February 12, 1939, Sue was a daughter of the late Sam P. and Grace Lucille Webb Smith. She and her husband Roy had made their home in Valdosta for the past 42 years, where Sue was a dedicated employee of Parkwood Developmental Center. A woman of great Christian faith, a devoted wife and mother, Sue was a blessing beyond measure to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors are her husband, Roy D. McNeal, Sr., of Valdosta; daughter, Rhonda M. Ashworth of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a son, Roy D. McNeal Jr., of San Antonio, Texas; grandsons, James Derek Moore, and Ryan N. Graham of Conway, South Carolina, six great grandchildren; a brother, Larry Smith of Saks, Alabama,  sister, Juanita Lee, brother, Richard Smith of Lincoln, Alabama.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Grace Smith, six sisters and four brothers.

The McNeal family wishes to thank Dr. Samuel Ofori and Dr. Anthony Johnson for their kind and compassionate care of Sue over the years.  And a special thank you to the Langdale Hospice House for the care and compassion given to Sue in her final days. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Pastor Peter Moseley will officiate. A private family entombment will take place at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Sue to Faith Baptist Church. Carson McLane Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for the McNeal family.
