Stafford E. Shaw, Sr., 79, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Langdale Hospice House following a brief illness. He was born on April 16, 1934 in Adel to the late Lacy and Margaret Sizemore Shaw. Mr. Shaw was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the City of Tacoma, Washington having worked with Beltline Railroad as a brakeman and yard-master. Mr. Shaw was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Carolyn Shaw of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Stafford, Jr. and Michelle Shaw of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Erin Ward of Seattle, Washington; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Lisa Hollingsworth of Knoxville, Tennessee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Robert Griffith of Seattle and Jillian and Brandon Tinsley of Valdosta; grandsons and their spouses, Matthew and Jenny Hollingsworth and Tyler and Samantha Hollingsworth all of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee; granddaughters, Katriece Zar, Sabrina Zar, Amber Zar, Meagan Ward, and Kallie Ward and a grandson, Kyle Ward all of Seattle, Washington; his brother, Walter N. Shaw of Valdosta; nieces, Tonya Brigman of Hahira and Katrina Shaw of Atlanta; nephews, Kenneth L. Shaw, Jr. of Valdosta, Kevin Shaw of Valdosta, Clay Shaw of Hahira and Allen Shaw of Atlanta; his beloved cats, Charger and Lonesome. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lacie Wright; his brother, Kenneth L. Shaw and his sister, Doris Barton.
