Shirley Young Elrod, 78, of Valdosta passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Dorimny Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Ga. She was born December 11, 1935, a daughter of the late Louie Durward Young and Lynn
Adams Young, of Valdosta, GA, where she grew up and attended school. She was a homemaker and of the Christian Faith.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James C. "Jimmy" and Melissa Hughes, Jr. of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherri Hughes White and Kenneth A. White of Valdosta; two grandsons, Zachary and Kristin Hughes of Dover, FL, and Jamie Lee and Shana Thomas of Valdosta; and 6 great-grandchildren
Graveside services for Mrs. Elrod will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, in Sunset Hill Cemetery, with Dr. Ernie Jones officiating. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta.
