Sheri Lokey Jackson

February 25, 1965 — August 29, 2023

Sheri Lokey Jackson, 58, of Valdosta, died suddenly on August 29, 2023, following an auto accident. Born in Plattsburgh, NY on February 25, 1965, she moved back to Valdosta with her family at an early age. She graduated from Lowndes High School in 1983, having marched with the Georgia Bridgemen and participated in 4-H activities. She went to Valdosta State University to earn her Early Childhood Education degree and soon started teaching in Morven in the Brooks County Schools. Sheri came back to Lowndes County Schools to teach at Westside Elementary School for a couple of years before moving to Lake Park Elementary where she has now taught for more than 25 years. She loved all her students and treated them like they were her own children. Above all, Sheri was a mother, mothering her own kids, her students, other family members and coworkers and even her animals and her plants.


Survivors include her husband, Mark Jackson, of Valdosta; twin daughters, Beth Lokey (& fiancée Hunter Parrish), and Julie Lokey, all of Valdosta; her mother, Liz Cothron of Valdosta, her brother Clay Cothron of Valdosta, her father, Bruce Garner of Lake Park and the father of her girls, Craig Lokey of Lake Park and several other aunts, uncles, in-laws and cousins. She is preceded in death by her brother Tim Garner and stepfather William Cothron and grandparents, Roy & Grace Simpson.


A graveside service will be held for Sheri at 10 am on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jay Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023 from 5 until 7 pm.
