Roy A. Spiker, 84, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026. He was born on February 25, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to the late Anita Juno Spiker and Ray A. Spiker. 

Roy was a devoted family man, respected engineer, and true “jack of all trades”—resourceful, generous, and always willing to lend a hand. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a degree in engineering, he built a successful career with Georgia Power. 

His commitment to serving others continued through his longtime membership in the Elks Lodge, where he held numerous leadership positions, including State President and Exalted Ruler. He also spent many years as an umpire, sharing his love of softball and baseball with players, families, and fellow sports enthusiasts. 

Roy could fix, build, or figure out nearly anything. He enjoyed traveling, playing softball, and watching baseball, but his greatest joy was time spent with his family, especially his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He faced Parkinson’s disease for many years with courage and perseverance, remaining an example of strength to those who loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and May Spiker; brother, Danny Spiker; mother-in-law, Inez Venable; son-in-law, Fred Smith; and sister-in-law, Joan Spiker. 

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Spiker; daughters, Kim Stracener and Kay Smith; two brothers, Van and Don Spiker; grandchildren, Justin (Wendy) Stracener, Jessie (Kenny) Meeks, Robyn (Doug) Tolson, Allison (Randy) Hicks, and Dylan Smith; and great-grandchildren, Gage and Jaxon Stracener, Gracie and Colton Williamson, Addilyn Meeks, Finn and Millie Kay Tolson, and Mikey Hicks; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Pam who always loved and cared for him as another father figure. 

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Roy’s caregivers who became family; Liz, Mary and Ty for the compassion, patience, and loving care they provided. Their dedication brought comfort to Roy and his family and will always be remembered with gratitude. 

Roy will be remembered for his capable hands, generous spirit, commitment to service, and deep devotion to his family. The love he shared and the memories he created will remain his lasting legacy.
