Ron Lindsey

February 6, 1943 — October 6, 2022

Ronald C. “Ron” Lindsey, 78, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, October 6, 2022, in Raleigh, NC. Born near Dandridge, TN to the late Mack Lindsey and Minnie Maude Varnell Lindsey, Ron grew up in Jefferson Co. TN and graduated from Maury High School. Soon after high school, Ron joined the U.S Marine Corps. In the Marines he was a cryptographic technician and served two tours in Vietnam. Ron also won Marksmanship Awards during his tours which led to a lifelong enjoyment of shooting sports and activities. His last station in the Marines was in Albany at the Supply Depot and while there, he met the former Shirley McCranie from Moultrie. Ron and Shirley were then married in September of 1968. In 1984, the Lindsey’s moved to Valdosta to be near family and Ron took a job at PCA in Clyattville. Ron worked there for 31 years prior to his retirement in 2015 as an Electronics & Instrumentation Reliability Engineer. He truly enjoyed his work, and was trained in numerous specialties including electronics, programming, and environmental and nuclear safety. He provided training at PCA on technical subjects, with a mind that thought in schematics. A favorite family memory is how quickly he would turn a napkin into an electronics diagram. He was part of Christ’s Fellowship Church and had served as a Bible teacher in numerous churches. Favorite pastimes for Ron were reading historical novels, watching mystery shows and sitting in the sun with Shirley. He loved meeting fellow Marines and was quick with a “Semper Fi!” He honored his Lord, Jesus Christ, and demonstrated it self-sacrificial service for his family.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley McCranie Lindsey of Valdosta, sons and daughters in law, Jeff and Ginnie Lindsey of Jefferson County, Tennessee, Michael and Nourith Lindsey of Jerusalem, Israel, Mark and Hayden Lindsey of Wake Forest, NC; brother and sister in law, Louis and Juretta Lindsey of Jefferson County, Tennessee; grandchildren, Callie (Tyler) Kraeger, Julie Lindsey, Jeffrey Lindsey, Ethan Lindsey, Noa Lindsey, Matanyah Lindsey, Atarah Lindsey, Ayalah Lindsey, Ovadyah Lindsey, Batyah Lindsey, Hedvah Lindsey, Oren Lindsey, Simeon Lindsey, Susanna Lindsey; several nieces and nephews.
