Robert Frank Sheffield, 85, lifetime resident of Valdosta, passed from this life on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Presbyterian Home in Brooks County. Born at Little Griffin Hospital in Valdosta, on May 20, 1940, he was a son of the late Frank L. Sheffield. His mother was the late Ruth A. Hunter (Phillip Irvin). After graduating from high school Robert worked for 19 years as an electrician with Hallman Electric. Robert was a Master Electrician and owner of Lakeside Electric. He was an electric contractor at PCA and a member of the IBEW Union. Robert was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church for over 60 years. He served as deacon and always served when needed. Robert graduated from Valdosta High School and was an avid Wildcat fan, never missing a game. He was a devoted husband, cherished father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Surviving is his wife Janie Pearce Sheffield, happily married for over 66 years. Surviving children, Tina (Mark) Welch, Bobby (Carol) Sheffield, and Gina (Edward) Dungan, all of Valdosta. Sister, Faye (Jack) Strickland of Clyattville, sisters-in-law Tilda Sheffield and Dot Irvin of Valdosta; surviving grandchildren are Paige and Aften Welch of Hahira, Bree (Shelton) Cowart of Lake Park, Gabriel Dungan of Valdosta, Gretchen (Steve) Erb of Willard North Carolina; surviving great grandchildren include, Kaleb, Knox, Trip and River Cowart all of Lake Park, Llewellyn and Edith Erb of Willard North Carolina. Mr. Sheffield was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, his brothers, Hershel Bray Sheffield, and Joe Irvin.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Robby Foster and Reverend Bob Willis will officiate. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. www.mclanecares.com.
