Robert Thomas Goff, 77, of Valdosta, passed away on July 4, 2024, at home. He was born on March 17, 1947, in Live Oak, FL, to the late S.E. Goff, Jr. and Annie Laurie Goff. Robert was part-owner of The Oyster Bar Fish Market, Inc., established by his grandfather, S.E. Goff, Sr., in 1952. His love for the Lord, his family, and the market was evident to anyone who knew him. Robert was a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church, where he taught children’s Sunday School and served as an usher. He proudly supported the Valdosta Wildcats Football program and was a member of the 1962 National Championship Team. Robert enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, and cheering on his grandchildren at their extracurricular activities.
Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Paula “Sissy” Goff; daughter and son-in-law, Brenna and Jock Taylor of Nashville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Dixon and Kristi Goff of Lake Park, GA; grandchildren, Julia Taylor, Kaysie Goff, and Jake Goff; brothers and sisters-in-law, S.E. “Everett” Goff III (Cherry) of Ocala, FL, and Fred Goff Sr. (Mary Nell) of Hahira, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11 am in the worship center at Morningside Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Wayne Robertson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 6-8 pm at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Robert will be buried on the family lot at Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Mailbox Club, 404 Eager Rd, Valdosta, GA 31602.
