Richard Milton Chandler

Richard (Dick) Milton Chandler, 79, of Valdosta, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 23, 1927, he was the son of the late Milton Thor and Corinne St. Pierre Chandler.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Chandler served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was selfemployed and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Survivors are his wife, Petri Meindl Chandler of Valdosta, daughter, Sheila Chandler of Texas, a son and daughter in law, Richard, Jr. (Richie) and Dawn Chandler of Lake Park, grandchildren, Caroline and Coley Chandler of Lake Park, Jared and Adam Setser of Valdosta; stepchildren, Sonji Gaskins Lawlor of Charlotte, North Carolina, April Gaskins Haddock of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Kari Gaskins, Chelsea Gaskins, Brian Gaskins and Patrick Gaskins all of Valdosta; step mother, Georgia Chandler of East Point, Michigan,; sisters, Linda Lund of Michigan, Beverly Chandler of Lake Suzie, Florida; brothers, Dr. Bill Chandler and Bob Chandler of Michigan, Peter Chandler of Virginia. Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by a daughter, Corrine Chandler Setser.


A rosary will be said at 6 p. m. Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home with visitation until 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 9 a. m. at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. The Reverend John O’Brien will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
