Rene Walthall Chaney

Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Rene Walthall Chaney, 59, of Cherry Lake, Florida, passed away on June 20, 2023.  Rene was born July 9, 1963, to Fred and Jean Walthall in Fort Meyers, Florida. 

Whether she was at the beach, on the lake, riding dirt roads or in her own backyard, Rene loved to be outdoors and enjoyed it most when she shared that time with her family. Rene had a caring and giving heart and was known to be a fierce protector of her family. 

Rene is survived by her husband, Joe Chaney, daughters, Christie Hudgins (Brent) and Nikki Harris, and son, J.D. Coody. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Martin, Baylee, Kynlee, Drake and Ryder; her siblings, Fred Walthall III (Donna), Danita Durso, Danny Walthall, and Tammey Revels (Vince);  and many nieces and nephews. Rene was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Walthall. 

A gathering in celebration of Rene's life is planned for a later time.
