Rena M. Gay

Rena M. Gay, 94, of St. Augustine, Florida, died on Monday, September 18, 2006. Born in Clyattville on August 29, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Horace Samuel and Lou Tishey Chason Zipperer. A member of Anastasia Baptist Church, Mrs. Gay was a homemaker and seamstress. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, and working with her hands.

Survivors are her daughters, Dorothy Ann (Herbert) Sowell of St. Augustine, Florida, Mildred Jeanette Crawley of Jonesboro, a son, Roy Cleveland (Gayle) Gay of Sarasota, Florida, sister, Sarah Dasher of Twin Lakes, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charlie C. Gay.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend Ron Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7 – 9 p.m. Flowers will be graciously received or donations may be made to Community Hospital of North East Florida.
