Regina Culpepper

March 13, 1932 — June 19, 2023

Regina Holton Culpepper, 91, of Valdosta, died on Monday, June 19, 2023 after a period of declining health. Born on March 13, 1932, to the late Cary & Jessie Barrett Holton, she was a lifelong resident of this area. Growing up in Clyattville, she graduated from Clyattville High School and was an all-star basketball player in high school. She married Walter “Dub” Culpepper on January 12, 1952, and they were married for 69 years prior to his death in 2017. Mrs. Culpepper worked at Reddick Motors, and several other Auto Sales jobs for several years before she left her job to be a homemaker. She loved being at home with her kids and later her grandchildren, and in her later years having candy to give to all the children at church. She also spent over 15 years serving as the secretary at Grace Baptist Church, and she was a member at Pine Grove Community Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Cay Watson of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben & Susanne Culpepper of Valdosta and Roger & Wendy Culpepper of Valdosta; nine grandchildren, Chris (& Tonya) Watson of Macon, Greta (& Tommy) York, Grant Watson, all of Valdosta, Brandon (& Bridgette) Culpepper of Morven, Harrison (& Caitlin) Culpepper of Valdosta, Jim (& Autumn) Culpepper of Arlington, Jesslyn (& Clinton) Parkins, Jacob Culpepper and Jeremiah (& Faith) Culpepper, all of Valdosta. Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren, a sister Marjorie Crews, a brother Alton (& Lee) Holton, two sisters-in-law, Faye Culpepper and Annie Laura Culpepper and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, a son Walter Joseph Culpepper and a brother, Ashley Holton.

The funeral for Mrs. Culpepper will be held at 4 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2023, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Her son, Pastor Roger Culpepper will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 pm until service time on Thursday.
