Ray Parrish

Ray Parrish, 54 of Hahira, died suddenly on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in Hahira. Born on March 31, 1970, he was a lifelong resident of this area. Ray grew up in Hahira, attended Lowndes County Schools and graduated from Lowndes High School in 1988. He soon started working at Colquitt EMC and worked his way from the bottom up. He retired in 2019 as a Foreman after 30 years with Colquitt. He was a master craftsman, who knew how to fix anything, drive anything and was very skilled at anything he attempted. Ray was also a quick wit and was a very intelligent person that caused other folks to listen when he spoke. Being outdoors was a favorite pastime, especially paddling his canoe in the river.

Survivors include his parents, Albert & Hedy Parrish of Hahira, his two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lynn Parrish, and Lee & Fleming Brooks, all of Hahira; four aunts, Linda Parrish of Hahira, Vivvian Parrish of Lake Park, Linnie Kinard and Barbara Kinard, both of Hahira. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Abby (& Cameron) Varnadore, William (& Kelsey) Rountree and Dylan Phillips and a great niece and nephew, Walton Varnadore and Peyton Rountree and several cousins. He is preceded in death by two good friends, Barry Croft and David Griffin. 

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery. Elder Thad Marshall will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Albert Parrish, 5746 Griffin Drive, Hahira, GA, 31632.
