Randall Edward McLain, age 87, passed away from this life peacefully on Tuesday morning March 11, 2025, at his home in Valdosta, GA. Randall was born on September 15, 1937 to Russell Walstein McLain and Juanita Williams McLain. He graduated from Valdosta High School and Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Arts. Randall received his Masters of Education and Counseling at University of Georgia. He had a long and very distinguished career in education, and he retired from the Brooks County School System.
Randall was Minister of Music in several churches in his lifetime. He also served as an interim pastor.
He loved the Lord! Randall had a strong faith and was a tremendous example of Jesus Christ, not only to his children, but to everyone he met. Randall was a sweet man with a gentle spirit and always had an encouraging word for those around him. He always carried a smile on his face to share with everyone.
Randall was everything a father should be to his five children. He was a proud member of Providence Community Church for 48 years. He loved his church family, and was a talented musician, playing piano and singing for many years.
Randall loved to travel. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Travel Club. They called themselves The Happy Travelers. “And we were all that.” he said. He served and help plan many of the excursions throughout the years they traveled. Randall and Ann fulfilled many dreams with that club and formed a multitude of new friends.
Randall was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife of 14 years MaryAnn Arvin McLain and wife of 43 years, Elizabeth Ann McLain. Also, his brother, Gene McLain.
He is survived by his children, two sons, Todd Green and Marc McLain; three daughters, Chris Johnson, Anita (Darry) Howard, and Tricia (Steve) Edmondson: five grandchildren; great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Garner and Gerri (Marshall) Casse and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, March 14, 2025, at Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel with visitation starting at 9:00am with funeral to follow at 10:00am. Interment will be in the Providence Community Church Cemetery following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Providence Community Church at 223 Sunset Road, Valdosta, GA 31602.
