Ralph Edmond (Ed) Newham, Jr., 73, died on Monday, December 22, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born on September 9, 1935 to the late Ralph Edmond, Sr. and Lucille McLeod Newham in Naples, Florida and was a life long resident of the area. He was a self-employed wallpaper installer and was of the Assembly of God faith. Mr. Newham had also been the president of the Withlacoochee Hunting Club for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Lehman Newham of Valdosta; a son, Gene Newham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Fay and Alan (Buddy) Wisenbaker and Jaime and David Jones all of Valdosta; six grandchildren and their spouses, Nicki and Derrell Stone of Naylor, Randy and Brandi Wisenbaker of Valdosta, Ryan and Jennifer Newham of Dowling Park, Florida, Ralph Edmond (Derek) Newham III, Amanda (Mandy) Newham and Tyler LaPlante all of Valdosta; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Brandon and Kelsey Stone all of Naylor; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Carolyn Newham of Valdosta, John and Mary Nell Newham of Monroe, Georgia, and Wayne and Linda Newham of Kissimmee, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Newham.
A funeral service for Ralph Edmond (Ed) Newham, Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Cotterill officiating. The burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
