Peggy Ann Peterson, age 94, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Smithfield Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Smithfield, North Carolina.

Born on April 26, 1931, in Hart County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice Mauldin. Peggy was a longtime and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Smithfield.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Smithfield.

She is survived by her son, Bob Peterson and his wife, Pam; daughter, Marianne Torrence; her grandchildren, Brandon Torrence and his wife, Lisa, and Beckie Prevette and her husband, Richard; as well as six great-grandchildren.

A graveside committal for Peggy will be held on May 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Park Cemetery, Lake Park, Georgia. McLane Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for the Peterson family locally.
