Pearl Lineberger
Collins
December 29, 1916 – June 14, 2026
Pearl Lineberger Collins, 109, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 14. She was born on December 29, 1916 to the late Lena Chason Lineberger and Edward Joshua Lineberger on their farm in Clyattville.
When she met her husband Henry, he was in the army, and when he was deployed to serve in WWII, Mrs. Collins moved to Valdosta to raise their children. During her husband’s military career, Mrs. Collins travelled around the world and the USA with her family, living in Japan, Indiana, Colorado, Germany, then North Carolina and back to Georgia. Mrs. Collins then moved from Atlanta to Valdosta after the passing of Mr. Collins and she began her career in food service for Valdosta City Schools.
Mrs. Collins loved the outdoors, and particularly enjoyed camping in the mountains with her daughter, Rita. She also loved kayaking, and would enjoy the sport well into her 90s. Mrs. Collins was also musically inclined, and played the dulcimer. She loved butterflies and animals as well. In Moultrie, December 24 is known as “Pearl Collins Day”.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita (David) Rothmeier of Rabun Gap, GA; her cousin, Carol (Chris) Prine of Valdosta, GA; Jan Sympson of Adel, GA, whom she considered a daughter; and special friends, Debbie Leisey and Carolyn Huckabee. She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Henry Thomas Collins; her son, Henry Collins, Jr.; and her daughter, Ronnie Faye Collins.
