Paulette “P” Barnes, 73, of Hahira, GA, passed away on Sunday, 26 July, 2026.

‘If you are reading this, I have been called to a better place where the grass is green and the flowers are beautiful. I have always lived a fun-filled life, I have always loved my family and friends and tried to be the person they wanted me to be.

My name is Paulette Barnes, known to most people as “P”.

I leave behind two children, Roger & Kristen Meeks, grandchildren Cullen, Gunner, and Tenley Meeks; Derry and Nikki Meeks; grandchildren Reece and Bree Meeks. Siblings include a very special sister, Jan Simpson, Patricia Atkins, Helen and Fleming Williams, Doris and Marvin Hudspeth, Glenda Martin, and Woody and Cathy Simpson; numerous nieces and nephews including Stephanie and Jeff Rochester, Kim and Michael Taylor; very special nephew and niece Neil and Alexis Rochester, Eli and Kyla Rochester, Bryce and Courtney Taylor, Maddie and Morgan Taylor.

Preceded in death by my mother and stepfather, Frances Taylor Simpson and W. Russell Simpson, my father William L. Moran, Jr., sister Lynn M. Sapp, brother-in-law Bobby Sapp, and brother Buddy Moran.

I have been very fortunate to have a wonderful group of friends and family to help take care of me. I want to thank my very special 4 year old neighbor, Bree Henderson, who watered my flowers during my hospital stay. Bree has brought me so much joy visiting with me and enjoying her favorite snacks, starbursts, honey buns, and popsicles.

I am looking forward to my new adventure! I am asking my girlfriends to write a bucket list of things I have done before I passed and what they think I might be doing after I pass.

I ask that my loved ones to celebrate my life & death. I will see each and every one of you again.

Ms. Barnes’ funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11a.m. at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home from 5 – 7p.m. Condolences may be conveyed to the family on the obituary page of www.mclanecares.com
