Patricia (Pat) Davis

November 11, 1937 — March 23, 2023

Patricia (Pat) Hamrick Davis, 85, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Langdale Hospice House following a lengthy illness. She was born in Norcross, Georgia on November 11, 1937, to the late Dan Virgil and Dora Evelyn Holbrook Hamrick. She was the oldest of Dan and Dora’s five children. Pat was a homemaker and a member of Park Avenue Church. Pat graduated from Norcross High School where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. While in high school she met and married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Carlyle (KC) Davis. They married on September 28, 1957, at USMC Recruiting Station Parris Island, South Carolina and she began her life as a military spouse moving from location to location throughout KC’s career. She enjoyed working in various areas from base exchange stores in California to North Carolina, as well as raising their 4 children when deployments took KC overseas during the Vietnam War. She ran “Green Acres”, a family convenience store in Norcross in the early 1970s and a restaurant for several years before joining BBL Industries, Inc. Pat was a faithful member of Park Avenue Church where she served with the older adult group singing in nursing homes and taking her therapy dog, Max, to the local hospital and nursing homes to cheer people up. Pat loved being a member of Park Avenue Church and enjoyed participating in missions, trunk or treat, and always sitting on the front row for worship service. Pat’s father, Dan, raised her in the church and she continued to raise her children and grandchildren teaching them of the redeeming love of Christ for everyone.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Julie Davis of Gainesville, Georgia; her daughter and son-in-law, Pati and Kevin Ruane of Valdosta; 10 grandchildren: Elicia Davis Gannon, Ashley Davis, Kyle (Ashley) Davis, Brittany Davis, Dylan Davis, Haley Davis, Candice Cooper, Hannah Cooper (Chris) Damron, Kristian (Kellsie) Ruane and Griffin Ruane, as well as 8 great-grandchildren: Jordan, Riley, Karter, Maverick, Everett, Ava, Ellie, Kashden, Kaisley, Soccara and Tatiana; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Bettye Hamrick, and Danny and Rosa Hamrick, and many nieces and nephews.
