Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Patricia Harden Becton, 90, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 14, 2026. She was born on July 16, 1935, at her grandmother’s home in Sycamore, Georgia to the late Joseph Willis Harden and Ava Grace Adair Harden.
Patricia treasured spending time on the front porch of her childhood home with her family, where she would listen to birds and crickets and watch for lightning bugs. As a young woman, Patricia earned her degree in English and Secondary Education from Valdosta State College. She began her career as an eighth-grade English teacher and later worked as a substitute teacher after many years of staying home with her children. Patricia was a devoted wife, a caring mother, and a loyal friend, and she was affectionately known as “Goggie” to her grandchildren. Patricia loved the Lord and was a member of Park Avenue Methodist Church.
Patricia leaves behind a loving family. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Bob McCall and Lynne and Alfredo Arguelles, and her son, Kevin Becton; four grandchildren, Sara Lynn (Sammy) Clawson, Matt (Olivia) McCall, Luis (Shannon) Arguelles, and Nicholas (Anna) Arguelles. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Sam and Audrey Clawson and Georgie Arguelles, with one more on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Richard (Jo) Harden; her sister-in-law, Betty Becton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Julian Becton, whom she loved and adored; her sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Ross Hudson; her sister-in-law, Louise Harden; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bennie and Harriet Becton; and her brothers-in-law, Lavelle Becton and Alton Becton.
