Nathan Abraham Towery, 90, of Lake Park for the past 8 years and formerly of Atlanta, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 in Valdosta after a brief illness. Born on January 25, 1915 in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Samuel and Viola Johnson Towery. He retired as a fireman for the City of Atlanta. He was a veteran of the United States Navy Seabees. He was a member of the American Legion, a Mason, a member of the VFW and a loyal Georgia Tech fan. Mr. Towery attended Lake Park United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Towery of Lake Park; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Webb of Atlanta, Sandra Thompson Jordan of Lake Park; grandchildren, Mary Catherine Bartlett and Melissa Webb, both of Atlanta, Gerald Kevin Thompson of Thomasville, Keith A. Thompson of Lake Park, Angela Smith of LaGrange and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, February 11, 2005 from 6 until 8 p. m. at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 12, 2005 at two p. m. at the graveside in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Michael P. Lyons.
