Nancy Morris

Nancy Thomas Morris, 68, of Valdosta, died on Friday, March 1, 2024, following a period of declining health.  She was born on June 22, 1955, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late George Wilbur and Melrose Straughan Thomas.  She received her Bachelors of Music degree from East Carolina University and her Masters of Music Education from Valdosta State University.  She taught music in the Valdosta City School System, Cherokee County, South Carolina, Rowan County North Carolina, and Hamilton County Florida.   Nancy was a member of SAI Music Fraternity and a founding member of Valdosta Symphony Guild.  Nancy was a member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 46 years, David Morris of Valdosta; her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Katie Morris of Grovetown, Georgia; her daughter, Rebecca Morris of New York City, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Cheri Thomas of Wilmington, North Carolina, and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Karen Thomas of Wilmington, North Carolina and Betsy and Lee Doss of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Services for Nancy Thomas Morris will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Horne officiating.  The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.   Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.  Carson McLane.
