Mildred “Millie” Bramlett Gray, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on April 11, 1945, in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Riley Daniel Bramlett and Johnnie Lee Smith Bramlett. Millie worked two different stints for the state of Florida. First, she worked for the Department of Labor in the human resources department for many years. She then retired, but not for long. She went back to work for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, working in human resources. She was an employee for the state of Florida for close to fifty years. Millie loved to fish, play cards, and was an amazing scrabbler! She loved Old Florida, especially Cedar Key. Millie enjoyed life and the company of others. She was married to her husband Richard for close to thirty years. Millie attended Valdosta’s First Methodist Church.
Mrs.Gray is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen Steinberg (Jamy) of Georgia; her grandchildren, Kayleigh Chavarria (Cameron) and Jake Steinberg of Georgia; her sister, Sue Backerman of Florida; her niece, Jill Finnerty (Tom) of Georgia; special family, Mike and Rose Marie Johnson of Florida, Joe Johnson of Florida, Felton, Shelly, Parker, and Andrew Cannon of Florida. Mille was looking forward to becoming a great grandmother in October.
Mrs. Gray is preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, Richard Byron Gray, and longtime companion, Forrest Cain.
No formal services will be held at this time, a private memorial will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to First Methodist Church of Valdosta. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com
