Mildred Louise Tucker, 92, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Saturday December 6 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Born in Egypt, AR to the late Charles Wallace and Effie Hamilton Wallace Donley on May 7 1933, she then grew up in Detroit, Michigan. There she worked at a donut shop and married John Ray Tucker on November 6, 1953 and they moved south in 1982 and settled in Valdosta. There they opened Granny’s Ice Cream shop in Castle Park and operated it for several years before opening Mildred’s Beauty Shop, which they operated up until the early 2000s. The two were married for 48 years at the passing of Mr. Tucker in 2001. Mrs. Tucker loved her coffee club, and had a variety of other hobbies such as cake decorating and sewing. She would never let anyone go hungry.

Mrs Tucker is survived by her daughters, Linda Murray of Valdosta, Tina (Eric) Tucker of Hazel Park, MI, and Diane (Fred) Berean of Brighton, MI; grandsons, Joe (Deena) Charron and Brad (Alyssa) Singletary, both of Valdosta, Aaron Tucker of Florida; granddaughters Brooke (Scott) Singletary and Jennie Anderson, both of Michigan; great granddaughters Cameron James, Courtney (Hannah) Hitchcock, and Skylar Griner; great grandson, Daniel Hickok; great great granddaughters Emerson Mae and Edith Louise; and sister, Anita Hill. She is preceded by her parents; her husband, John R. Tucker; son, Ronnie Tucker; son-in-law, Donald Murray; brother, Billy Donley; and sisters, Ivaugh Chandler, Lucy Meeks, Rosie Russo, Pat Milliken, and Bobbie Olena Donley.

The family will be holding a private graveside service in memory of Mrs. Tucker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers/Dementia Association. Condolences may be conveyed to the family on the obituary page of www.mclanecares.com Carson McLane Funeral Home.
