Mike Bass, 63, of Valdosta, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026. He was born on August 27, 1963, to Gary L. Bass, Sr., and the late Betty Bass Thackrey. A lifelong resident of Valdosta, Mr. Bass graduated from VSU and UGA and was a law partner with the firm of Closson, Bass, and Tomberlin for 30+ years. Mike believed in freedom and the American Justice System.

Mike also found time to enjoy music, travel and was a big Atlanta Falcons fan.

Mr. Bass is survived by his father, Gary L. Bass, Sr.; brothers, Gary L. Bass, Jr. (Martha) of Marietta, GA and Gregory Mark Bass (Michele) of Cumming, GA; niece, Jennifer Bass; nephews, Justin Bass and Jacob Bass; and great nephew, Isaac Lowry. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Bass Thackery, and his companion Sue Swanson.
