Mathew R. “Frog” Lindsey, Jr. 73, of Hahira died on December 1, 2025 after a brief illness. Born on January 21, 1952, to the late Mathew Robert & Nellie Mae Lindsey, in Lubbock, Tx, the family moved to Hahira when Mathew was less than a year old. Growing up in Hahira, he graduated from Lowndes High School in 1970. He then went to welding school at Moultrie Technical School. After completing his courses, he got a job at Weyerhaeuser Corporation in Cook County in the early 1970’s. He worked there as a millwright and continued when Warehouser became Sierra Pine for more than 40 years and retired in 2014. Mathew was well known for making things like smokers, fish cookers, oyster shuckers and other helpful things out of metal for family and friends. When he wasn’t working with metal, Mathew had many other interests as well including sports. He was a lifelong fan of Lowndes High Viking football, going to every game he could. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Falcons and the Florida Gators on TV. For more than 10 years, Mathew coached several Boys Club Football teams as well. When he wasn’t watching football on TV, he loved watching NASCAR races and Bill Elliott back in the day. He also loved going outside and camping, boating, fishing and hunting deer. For many years, Mathew was well known for his Christmas lighting displays on Webb Road and was very patriotic for his country.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Vicki Lindsey of Hahira; his son Robert Lindsey, of Hahira; his sister, Betty Gray also of Hahira; brother and sister in law, Kenneth & Gail Lindsey of Macon; two sisters in law and a brother in law, Robin Mott of Valdosta and Cindy & Henry Wynn of Pavo, and brother in law, Bill (& Judith) Mott of Hahira. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, his faithful companion, Charlie, the lab (and remembering Ruger & Max) and special friends Gene Turner and many other special friends. He is preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Wayne Lindsey, Owen (& Phyllis) Lindsey and Marie Dixon, also two brothers in law, Richard Gray & Randall Dixon.

The funeral service for Mathew will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in the chapel of Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Burial will follow at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 pm until service time. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Salem Methodist Church Cemetery fund.
