Melba Yarbrough, 79, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Heritage Healthcare following a lengthy illness. She was born in Moultrie, Georgia on June 14, 1930 to the late Barney Hart and Mary Thelma Floyd Wright and has been a Valdosta resident for the past 50 years. She worked for a time as a waitress in the 1960’s at the King’s Grill and also for a time with Owens-Illinois. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Sylvester Yarbrough of Valdosta; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys Jarrells of Moultrie, Wanda and Mac Thompson of Valdosta; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Eloise Hart of Albany; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Wiley Lee Floyd; three brothers, James (J.B.) Hart, Melvin Hart and Morris Hart; a sister, Mary Frances Croft
A graveside service for Melba Yarbrough will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Moultrie, Georgia with Pastor David Oaks officiating.
