Mark Wayne Selph, 64, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Langdale Hospice House. He was born on September 4, 1959, in Valdosta to the late Billy Wayne Selph and the late Jeanne Carolyn Davis Selph. He was a veteran of the United States Army holding the rank of Captain and served during Desert Shield/Storm. Mark was a retired detective with the Lowndes County Sherrif’s Department having served the department and the community for 30 years.
Mark is survived by his wife, Beth Selph of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Billy Smith of Valdosta; a son, Evan Selph of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Brandon Wright of Wauchula, Florida; a son, Ethan Selph of Clearwater, Florida; his grandchildren, William Smith, McKenzie Wright, Rileigh Smith, and Trevor Selph; a sister and brother-in-law, Jeannie and Ray Gupton and his brother, Michael (Mike) Selph all of Valdosta; sisters-in-law, Roxy Tyler and Angela Infinger (Greg); cousins, Robbie Myles and Steve Myles; nephews, Corey Jaramillo, Taylor Jaramillo, and Brawdy Gupton, as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded by his grandparents, Jack and Lumby Selph, and Custis and Aline Davis.
Services for Mark Selph will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor George Ehling and Pastor Dub Music officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
