Margaret Rupp nee Solf, aged 99, peacefully departed from this world on May 29, 2024 at Langdale Hospice. Born in Essen, Germany, to Marie Henriette and Johannes Phillip Solf, Margaret's life journey was one of resilience, love, and boundless generosity.
In Werther, Germany, Margaret exchanged vows with Richard Rupp, embarking on a journey that took them to multiple countries touching countless lives. Together, they ventured to Sao Paolo, South America, in 1952, and later settled in Chicago, Illinois, in 1958. Eventually, they found their home in Burbank, Illinois, where they lovingly raised four children.
In 1978, Margaret and Richard embraced a new chapter in Valdosta, Georgia, where Margaret flourished. She found friendship among fellow Germans in the community, forming lifelong bonds through their cherished monthly "Kaffee Klatch" gatherings, which endured for an impressive 45 years. Margaret's warmth and compassion knew no bounds, as evidenced by her active involvement in various social and volunteer organizations. Her dedication and service garnered her numerous accolades, including an Honorary Membership in the DAR.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard, her sisters Anni and Elisabeth, her only brother, Rudy, and her grandson, Daniel Rupp (Melissa). She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, cherished by her four children: Silke (Patrick Deeley), Ingo Rupp (Keeta), Wolf Rupp (Donna), and Rick Rupp (Kerri) as well as her sister, Ursula Dressner.
Margaret's life was further enriched by the love of her 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, each a testament to her enduring spirit and profound impact. Additionally, Margaret is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by her unwavering love and grace.
Margaret Rupp will be remembered not only for her remarkable resilience and unwavering kindness but also for the countless lives she touched and the legacy of love and compassion she leaves behind.
