Marene Hutchinson Carter

Marene Hutchinson Carter, 81, of Brooks County passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Born on December 24, 1925 in Brooks County, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Bud" and Carrie Hutchinson. She was a lifelong resident of Brooks County. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Welcome Hill Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Coney Lee Carter of Brooks County; four sons, Bobby (Jeanette) Carter of Brooks County; Raymond (Lisa) Carter of Moultrie; Vernon (Barbara) Carter of Brooks County; Melvin Carter of Brooks County; Daughter in-law, Freida Carter Mitchell of Brooks County; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and a loving niece Linda Gibson.

She was preceded in death by one son; Jerome W. Carter; two brothers; Letha Hutchinson and Cleon Hutchinson; and one sister; Ella Mae Ellenberg.

Pallbearers are Michael Carter, Chad Carter, Jason Carter, Josh Carter, Darren Martin, Shan Adams, Bleau Crawford, and Karey Faircloth.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2007 at the Welcome Hill Church of Christ with Mr. Jerry Herring officiating. Mrs. Carter will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
