Louise Marie Hughes, 74, of Echols County, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at her granddaughter’s residence following a period of declining health. She was born on March 9, 1950, in Tampa, Florida but has been a resident of this area for many years. She worked as a cashier in various retail businesses from convenance stores to her last place of employment at Walmart. She was known for her great sense of humor, her kindness and friendship to anyone she would meet and her love for her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Robert Flynn of Valdosta; two sons, Steven Hughes of Echols County and Allan Hughes of Oklahoma; her grandchildren and their spouses, Courtney and Michael Stabler of Echols County, Alicia and Jacob Cox of Jasper, Florida, Kristen Flynn of Valdosta, Kameren Hughes of Statenville, RJ Flynn of Valdosta, Ryan Flynn of Valdosta, and Avery Gooden of Statenville; her great-grandchildren, Dalson Stabler, Jolene Cox, Willow Stabler, and Easton Stabler; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda Faye and Carey Combass of Echols County. She was preceded by her husband, Lavon Hughes, her son, Michael Hughes, her parents, Robert and Bell Baker McInvale, and her brother, Jimmy McInvale.

Services for Lousie Marie Hughes will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park with Pastor Ricky Young officiating. The burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home.
