Louise Hughes

Louise Hughes, born May 31, 1935, to the late Yeager S. and Ida M. Brown, peacefully departed this life on April 29, 2024.

Louise was a woman of simple pleasures, finding joy in playing Bingo, getting lost in a good book, solving word searches, and creating beautiful crochet pieces. Her church held a special place in her heart, serving not only as a place of worship but as an extended family.

Louise leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by son Michael J. Hughes, Sr., his wife Jacqueline, and their children Michael, Buddy, and Catherine (Nathan) Bennett; her daughter Lorraine Taylor, her son Trevor Green, and her daughter Taylor McDowell; her son Bruce Hughes; her daughter Sharon Smith, her husband Mike, and their children Dalton Smith, Mechelle Keen and Randi Smith. Additionally, she is survived by eight great-grandchildren, as well as a vast extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her infant son Winston, her sisters Marie Gaston, Dorothy Chauncey, Ida Russ, and her brother Tommy Brown.

Services will be held at Carson McLane Funeral Home on Thursday, May 2, 2024, with visitation beginning at 10 am, followed by the funeral at 11 am. Louise will be laid to rest in Carter Cemetery, surrounded by the love of those she cherished. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com
