Louie Carlton
Flythe, Jr.
February 23, 1962 – March 30, 2026
Louie Carlton Flythe, Jr., 64, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on February 23, 1962, in Valdosta, Georgia, he was preceded in death by his parents, Louie Carlton Flythe, Sr. and Betty McLeod Flythe.
Louie was a man of strong faith and unwavering love for his family. From an early age, he embraced the values of honesty, hard work, kindness, and empathy. He was a lifelong member of Central Avenue Church of Christ and a devoted Mason.
A proud graduate of Valdosta High School, Class of 1980, Louie went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from Valdosta State University in 1985. He later gave back to his alma mater by serving for many years as secretary of the VSU Alumni Association. In 1994, he graduated from the University of Georgia’s Georgia Banking School.
Louie dedicated more than forty years to a distinguished career in banking, where he built lasting relationships with customers and colleagues alike. Known as a consummate salesman, he had a gift for ensuring that every deal ended with a firm handshake and mutual confidence. His career included positions at Park Avenue Bank, Colony Bank, Southeastern Credit Union, and culminated in his role as City President of The Trust Bank-Valdosta Branch.
Throughout his career, Louie remained deeply committed to his community, serving as a board member of the Central Valdosta Downtown Authority, Lowndes Associated Ministries to People (LAMP), the Kiwanis Club, and the Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce.
Louie had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing at Ocean Pond with his father. Those treasured moments not only fostered his love of fishing but also instilled in him the life lessons that shaped him into a devoted husband and exceptional father.
He cherished his family and took great joy in recreating the meaningful traditions of his own childhood. Family trips to familiar places—where thoughtfully planned meals were always a highlight—became treasured memories. Days spent on Long Pond with family and friends were filled with good food, fellowship, and constant laughter.
Louie is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sharon Hall Flythe of Valdosta, Georgia; his daughter, Haley Lane Flythe Morris and her husband, Caleb Morris, of Thomasville, Georgia; his granddaughter, Lainey Carlton Morris of Thomasville; and his favorite feline companion Tiger Flythe. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Flythe Dasher and her husband, Bobby Dasher; his niece, Deann Dasher Scruggs and her husband, Jim Scruggs; and great-niece, Elle Scruggs. Additional survivors include his brother-in-law, Gregg Hall, and his wife, Terri Hall, of Valdosta; his sister-in-law, Cindy Hall Huff, and her husband, Glen Huff; and his nephew, Hunter Huff of Christmas, Florida.
