Rick Means

Rick A. Means, 87, of Valdosta, GA, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his beloved family.

Born on November 23, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA, Rick was the son of the late Louis A. and Geraldine F. (Lane) Means. He served with honor in both the Marines and the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force he became the Parks Supervisor for the Valdosta Parks, Recreation and Community Affairs Department for 22 years.

Rick was a cherished figure known as Santa Claus in Valdosta for over 15 years, spreading immeasurable joy throughout the community. He also dedicated his time to coaching baseball and football at the boys' and girls' club. However, above all else, Rick's profound love for his family and his dogs guided his life.

Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Marion J. (Mingay); his daughter Tammy Cooper, her husband Aaron, and their son Zorn Crosby of Valdosta; and his son, Rickey Means, his wife Kelley, also of Valdosta.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home from 2pm to 3:30 pm, with prayers at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of South Georgia, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602, are appreciated.
