LOTA BRUCE SMITH

August 21, 1934 – July 23, 2025

Lota Smith, 90, of Valdosta, died on July 23, 2025 at Fellowship Home at Brookside. Mrs. Smith was born to the late John Frederick Bruce and Nina Joiner Bruce, and was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Valdosta. She was born and grew up in Palatka, Florida where she graduated from Palatka High School. Mrs. Smith attended Agnes Scott College and then worked as a bank representative before being married in 1956.

Immediate family survivors include her son, Bruce Smith and daughter-in-law Cathie Smith of Valdosta, son John Smith of Atlanta, grandson Sean Haley and wife Andrea Gutierrez of Atlanta, and Frances Green of Atlanta. She is preceded in death by her son, Wayne Smith and her husband, Mitchell Smith.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 28, 2025 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. John Klemko will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
