Lois Blanton Ellis, 77, of Valdosta, died on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Lakehaven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born on February 12, 1943 in Clyattville, Georgia to the late Henry Alfred Blanton and Rena Lee Smith Blanton and has been a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. She was a retired bus driver with the Lowndes County School System and greatly enjoyed being part of the children’s lives that rode on her bus. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and always put her family first. Mrs. Ellis was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Vivian and Joe Reagan, and Barbara Vann all of Valdosta; her son, Wendell Ellis of Lake Park; her grandchildren, Natasha Strickland and her fiancée, David, Steven Reagan and his wife Shelby Reagan, and Joseph Tyler Ellis; two great-grandchildren, Addison Reagan and Katie Strickland; a former grandson-in-law, Sidney Strickland; her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Frances Blanton of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thomas Ellis; an infant son; eight siblings, Melvin Blanton, Albert Blanton, L.A. Blanton, Claude Blanton, Kathleen Thompson, Hayward Blanton, Zelphie Rentz, and Anna White.
A graveside service for Lois Blanton Ellis will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Sunset Hill Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Burt officiating.
