Linda Scruggs Cooper

March 28, 1940 — March 20, 2025

Valdosta, GA

Linda Ann Scruggs Cooper was born in Morven, Georgia on March 28, 1940. She was raised on Windy Hill Farms by her parents, the late Homer and Hortense Scruggs, and with her siblings Janice (Force), Dianne (James), and Charles.

When she was in high school she fell in love with the love of her life, Harrison Cooper, and they were married on February 14, 1960. Linda and Harrison moved to Valdosta where they raised their two daughters, Cindy and Stephanie. After several different careers they landed on acquiring two radio stations FM 96 and the sister AM station WVLD. Linda was affectionally known as "Ms. C," and everyone respected her as a mother figure. Her work ethic was admired and was the glue that held things together. She also owned Travel Unlimited, which allowed her to travel around the US and internationally. She was a member of Central Avenue Church of Christ and enjoyed volunteering and organizing in several areas of their ministries.

She had many accomplishments over the years, but her biggest one was her grandsons, whom she referred to as "her boys" - Travis, Connor, Colby, and Austin. They called her "Lela," the name she was most proud of. She was a natural caregiver and was loved so deeply by so many people throughout her life. A two-time cancer survivor, herself, she never lost her can-do attitude. If you knew her, you knew that she loved playing Canasta with the "Happy Hens," working in her yard on the farm, sitting on a beach with her family, sharing a meal with friends, entertaining during the Holidays, and whatever her grandsons wanted to do next.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband of 61-years, Harrison Cooper; her parents; and her siblings, Janice Scruggs Force, Dianne Scruggs James, and Charles Scruggs. She is survived by daughters Cindy (Bob) Minick of Valdosta, GA and Stephanie (Scott) Braswell of Collierville, TN and her grandsons Travis Braswell of Collierville, TN; Connor Ellis of Orlando, FL; Colby (Courtney) Ellis of Sandy Springs, GA; and Austin Braswell of Madison, WI. She also leaves behind numerous extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
